Briggs Maxwell Remembered After Fatal Farm Accident In Town Of Ithaca, Wisconsin, As School Community Mourns Young Student Athlete
The Ithaca community is mourning Briggs Maxwell, a freshman student and athlete whose life ended after a farm accident involving a skid loader in the Town of Ithaca, Wisconsin.
According to the Richland County Sheriff’s Office, authorities received a 911 call shortly after 7 a.m. on Thursday, August 27, 2026.
Richland EMS and Ithaca First Responders arrived and found Briggs Maxwell with a serious head injury before transporting Briggs Maxwell to Richland Hospital.
Despite medical efforts, Briggs Maxwell died from the injuries.
Briggs Maxwell attended Ithaca as a freshman and appeared on the Ithaca/Weston football roster as a running back and linebacker.
The loss deeply affected classmates, teammates, teachers, friends, family, and the wider school community.
The Ithaca School District shared sympathy with loved ones and made counselors and trusted adults available for students and staff.
The Ithaca/Weston football game scheduled for Friday, August 28, 2026, against Wauzeka-Steuben/Seneca was canceled in honor of Briggs Maxwell.
