Deborah Saffran, 69, of Bowie, Maryland, Remembered After Wednesday Evening Prince George’s County Crash

Deborah Saffran, 69, of Bowie, Maryland, died Wednesday evening in Prince George’s County after a crash in the 2800 block of 9th Street.

Authorities said a driver fled a police stop near Lanham Severn Road and Driscoll Drive, crossed double yellow lines about a half-mile away, and struck Deborah Saffran’s car.

Police said officers had been advised not to pursue after the driver left the initial stop.

A third vehicle was also involved, and that driver was not hurt.

The driver who fled went to a hospital and was expected to recover, while officials had not announced a name or potential charges as of the August 27, 2026 report.

The Maryland Attorney General’s Independent Investigation Division responded to the scene and later declined to investigate.

Deborah Saffran was remembered as a mother, family member, friend, and loved one whose sudden passing leaves deep sorrow among those who knew and cherished them.
