Melinda “Mindy” Brugger, 54, Remembered As A Hudson Valley EMT And CPR Instructor After Death At Highland Home
The Hudson Valley community mourns Melinda “Mindy” Brugger, a 54-year-old EMT and CPR instructor remembered for dedicated service through the Westchester Medical Center network.
Authorities found Melinda deceased alongside another adult, age 66, at a home on Milton Turnpike in Highland, Ulster County, after relatives and a friend discovered them unresponsive shortly before midnight on Friday.
The Ulster County Sheriff’s Office later said unresolved domestic issues appeared connected to the deaths, and New York State court records showed Melinda had filed for divorce on July 17, 2026.
Sheriff’s deputies, New York State Police, Plattekill police, emergency medical personnel, rescue teams, and fire agencies responded to the residence, where both individuals were pronounced deceased.
Melinda served people during vulnerable moments, taught lifesaving CPR skills, and earned respect across the first responder community.
Friends and colleagues remembered Melinda as strong-willed, outspoken, distinctive, and deeply committed to making life better for others.
