Greg Tinsman passed away at age 70, and the Cape Elizabeth community remembers a respected retired first responder whose public safety service began in 1974.
Greg Tinsman joined the Cape Elizabeth Police Department as a Reserve Police Officer, later served with the Cape Elizabeth Fire Department, and gave a combined 32 years to both departments.
From 1988 to 1998, Greg Tinsman served as Cape Elizabeth’s Director of Emergency Management and helped guide local readiness efforts.
In 1998, Greg Tinsman became a Public Safety Dispatcher in Cape Elizabeth for 11 years, then continued dispatching in Kennebunk for two years and Sanford for three years before joining Scarborough Police Department in 2014.
In 2015, Greg Tinsman received the Maine Association of Police Communications Officer of the Year Award.
Greg Tinsman retired from the Scarborough Police Department in April 2022 after decades of steady service, humor, storytelling, and dedication to others.
