Jody W. Thackeray And Desiree S. Thackeray Remembered After I-215 Rear-End Collision In Salt Lake City During Tuesday Evening Traffic
Jody W. Thackeray, 68, and Desiree S. Thackeray, 40, both Ogden residents, died Tuesday, August 25, 2026, after a rear-end collision on southbound I-215 near 2300 North in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Jody drove a 2005 Jaguar S-Type with Desiree seated in the back when traffic slowed around 4:37 p.m. during the evening commute.
Authorities said a 2021 Subaru Crosstrek struck the rear of the Jaguar, pushing it into a stopped 2024 Ford F-150 pickup ahead.
First responders reached the scene quickly, but officials confirmed Jody and Desiree died at the scene.
Utah Highway Patrol closed all southbound lanes in that area for about four hours while teams reviewed tire marks, vehicle damage, and the sequence of events.
Family, friends, and the Ogden community now remember Jody and Desiree after an ordinary drive ended in a sudden and painful loss.
