Shelden Conway, 13, Remembered After Fatal Car Incident Monday Night On South Poplar Street In Pana, Illinois
Shelden Conway, 13, died Monday night, August 24, 2026, after being struck by a car in Pana, Illinois.
Pana police said the incident happened shortly after 9:30 p.m. in the 500 block of South Poplar Street.
Authorities said a car driven by a 16-year-old slowed to a stop before moving forward as Shelden attempted to get back into the vehicle.
The driver stopped immediately and called 911.
The Christian County Coroner’s Office said Shelden was found unresponsive in the roadway and was pronounced dead at the scene.
On August 27, 2026, relatives, friends, and community members continued to mourn Shelden Conway and remember a young life that ended far too soon.
