Melanie Rivera Avilés Remembered After Fatal PR-102 Incident In San Germán, Puerto Rico, On August 25, 2026
Authorities identified 38-year-old Melanie Rivera Avilés, a resident of San Germán, after a fatal incident early Tuesday, August 25, 2026.
Police reported that the case began at approximately 2:00 a.m. near kilometer 36.3 of PR-102 in the Minillas neighborhood, near the former Villa Chelín.
Responding officers found Melanie Rivera Avilés beside the roadway, and emergency medical personnel pronounced Melanie Rivera Avilés deceased at the scene.
Investigators reported finding more than 25 casings of different calibers in the area as part of the evidence review.
The Criminal Investigations Corps of Mayagüez continues to lead the case with support from prosecutors.
Authorities said the circumstances remain under review, no arrests have been reported, and officials continue interviews and security-camera checks from nearby businesses.
